Dr. Asmat Jafry, MD
Dr. Jafry is a board-certified psychiatrist who treats patients of all ages with a keen interest in a broad range of psychiatric disorders including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, eating disorders, and addiction disorders.
She completed her medical education from Karnatak University, India. With a keen interest in psychiatry, she completed her General Psychiatry residency from Austin, Texas and went on to pursue her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University, Chicago.
Dr. Jafry believes in providing quality care in a secure environment where a patient feels comfortable to express his/her concerns. With her caring and pleasant personality, she is highly approachable and connects well with kids and adolescents. Her ability to work well with families is particularly appreciated by her patients.
Katarzyna (Kasia) Slys, MS, PA-C
Katarzyna Skorka is a state-licensed and nationally board-certified physician assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Loyola University Chicago and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Southern Illinois University. During her training, she received academic and clinical training in multiple fields including psychiatry, family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health and more. She underwent her medical rotations through Carle Foundation Hospital which consisted of inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, treating a broad range of psychiatric disorders.
Katarzyna believes in the treatment of a person as a whole. She is passionate about eliminating the stigma surrounding psychological diagnoses. Following evidence-based medicine and using clinical judgment, she will provide an in-depth evaluation to develop an accurate diagnosis. She will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan to assist you in reaching your goals. She wants to give her patients the opportunity to share their experiences in a judgement free atmosphere. Most importantly, she is eager to listen and involve the patient in the process in order to provide the best possible care to her patients.
Safaa Beg, MS, PA-C
Safaa Beg is a state-licensed and nationally board-certified physician assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Michigan State University and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University. During her clinical rotations at Midwestern, she gained experience in a variety of different medical settings, including pediatrics and both inpatient and outpatient neurology.
Safaa grew up in Naperville and is familiar with the needs of community, specifically those struggling with psychiatric disorders in a post pandemic world. She performs in depth evaluations and works with patients to come up with the best treatment plan according to the patient’s needs and comfort level. She wants her patients to feel safe and aware that their needs are being met.
During her free time, Safaa loves to try making new recipes, take her toddler for a walk, or read!
Jeremiah (Jeremy) Palacios, MS, PA-C
Jeremiah is a state-licensed and nationally board-certified physician assistant. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Aurora University and completed his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Dominican University. During his clinical rotations, psychiatry stood out as his area of greatest interest and fulfillment. He gained valuable experience across multiple settings, including inpatient, outpatient, telehealth, and nursing home psychiatry.
Jeremiah believes that psychiatric care is one important piece of the larger puzzle when it comes to improving mental health. He emphasizes the importance of understanding a patient’s interpersonal struggles and preferences to create an ideal treatment plan. He values proving proper patient education and discussing options before starting any treatment. He hopes his patients will feel comfortable opening up to and trusting him.
Kristi Waterfield, LCPC, CRC
Kristi Waterfield is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Kristi received her Master of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University and is currently pursuing her Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor credential through Aurora University. She has held various positions over the past 20+ years. Her range of experiences includes providing counseling and assistance to individuals returning to the workforce, advocating for and implementing workplace accommodations, and providing group and individual therapy to adolescents and families. What she has found to be her true passion is working alongside individuals as they confront life’s challenges, and helping them enhance skills, strengths, and self-awareness to take healthy steps forward.
Kristi works with individuals ages 11 and up who are facing challenges of varying intensities, including anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, ADHD, personality disorders, parenting issues, marital issues, family conflict, school refusal, suicidal ideation, self-harm, life transitions, occupational issues, chronic health issues and physical disabilities.
Kristi integrates concepts from different therapy models with a primary emphasis on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. She has a foundational listen-first approach, without judgment, to help individuals make sense of what is challenging them, guide them to consider their choices, and choose a path that aligns with their goals and values. She believes in partnering with individuals to both accept where they are and provide motivation and tools for change. Kristi offers a non-judgmental space where individuals can feel safe to confront their challenges, embrace their humanness, and work toward selfacceptance and personal growth.
Alexis Strain, MA, NCC, LPC
Alexis is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University and a B.A. in Psychology from Benedictine University. A former professional ballerina, she integrates discipline, creativity, and mind-body awareness into her therapeutic work.
Denise McNicholas, MS, CRC, LCPC
Licensed Therapist in Illinois with 19+ years of professional work experience in helping clients with
relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem/confidence, and career difficulties. Additional areas of focus includes: chronic pain, physical disabilities, Forgivemess therapy, Life pupose, Self-love, Traumatic brain injury, and Women’s issues.

Diana Czech, LSW
Diana (she/her) received her bachelor’s degree in social work at University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL in 2018 and completed her master’s program in Social Work, also at University of St. Francis in 2021. Diana also has a minor in Psychology and is an inductee in Phi Alpha Honors Society at University of St. Francis. Diana currently holds a LSW (Licensed Social Worker) and is currently working towards her clinical license- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Diana strives to provide psychological support through mutual respect, collaboration (client centered care), compassion and growth, working towards overall health and wellness relating to mental health. Diana recognizes that every person has unique experiences, strengths, and factors relating to beliefs, culture, family, values, and personal identity. Diana strives to honor and respect the client’s individuality and unique story. Diana believes that every client has the potential to grow and make positive changes and that every person deserves the full chance to make productive and healthy changes.
Diana believes that mental health treatment begins with the relationship between therapist/counselor and client. This process involves active listening, mutual understanding of treatment planning, communication between client and therapist, mutual respect and understanding, and collaboration with a goal of creating overall health and wellness. Diana also recognizes that every client has unique goals for treatment and Diana strives to assist her patients with achieving their identified goals through treatment planning and routine check-ins and communication.
Diana has experience working with adults and adolescents on in-patient psychiatric units including UCM (University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Wyman Gordon) in Harvey, IL and AMITA/ASCENSION St. Joes in Joliet and since gaining her license, has changed to private practice through providing individual therapy. Diana has experience using CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Solution-Focused, and Strengths Based Therapy. Diana has experience with clients struggling with co-occurring disorders (substance abuse and mental health). Diana also treats clients with a variety of disorders: anxiety, eating, mood, and personality disorders. Diana also has experience with trauma and stressor related disorders as well as psychotic and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Nicholas Sumoski, MA
Nicholas (he/him) attended Governors State University where he obtained Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. He also obtained a Bachelors in Sociology and a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. Nicholas’s priority is to foster a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental environment that promotes growth and healing. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community he is passionate about helping those who struggle with queer related stressors including questioning one’s sexual identity, gender dysphoria, intolerant environments, and lacking support systems.
He uses a client-centered approach that utilizes treatment techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy based on the client’s personal needs. Together, Nicholas and his clients collaborate to create treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of everyone. He treats a variety of mental health conditions including but not limited to depression, anxiety/social anxiety, low self-esteem, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Tyler Schmitt, MA
Tyler Schmitt is a recent graduate of Lewis University’s Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. With years of experience as an inpatient psychiatric counselor in the Advocate Hospital System, he has worked with a wide range of mental health conditions, working most commonly with anxiety and depressive disorders. Tyler is particularly interested in trauma-related disorders and plans to pursue advanced training in EMDR and Brainspotting. His therapeutic approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered techniques, with an existential focus on empowerment and self-directed growth. He believes therapy should help clients take control of their mental well-being in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them.

Loreta Stavskiene, MS, NCC, LCPC, LMHC
Loreta Stavskiene is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). She graduated from Benedictine University with a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology degree in 2005. Since her graduation, she worked in different roles and capacities in the mental health field which allowed her to strengthen her clinical skills and grow as a mental health professional. She has designed, implemented, and coordinated an eating disorder program at a residential treatment center, trained and supervised staff, provided group and individual counseling, collaborated with multidisciplinary treatment teams to facilitate treatment outcomes and goals.
Loreta Stavskiene, MS, NCC, LCPC, LMHC hasvaluable experience in helping individuals with eating disorders, addictions, mood and anxiety disorders, complex trauma, and personality disorders. She is very passionate in helping individuals to reach their true potential and create meaningful lives. She works with adults and adolescents aged 14 and up. In addition, she provides family and couplescounseling and therapy. She utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and is trained in Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT). Currently she is working in private practice in Bolingbrook, IL and Munster,IN. She oversees clinical functions and facilitates professional development of interns, graduate students, and counselors to ensure the quality of care to clients, as well as maintenance of program policies and proceduresat Life Skills Counseling Services, Naperville IL.
Alicia McLaughlin
Dr. Alicia is a full professor of social work and a licensed clinical therapist. She is also the founder of Coaching with Dr. Alicia, LLC, as a certified couples coach focusing on providing evidence-based skills to couples who wish to get married, improve their communication skills, and foster healthy relationships. As a mother of three children, Dr. Alicia wishes to use her own life experiences related to love, marriage, community building, self exploration, and commitment to respectful living to inspire couples to become stronger together. Dr. Alicia has beena licensed therapist for over 20 years and considers this work to be her lifelong passion.As a fulltime professor of social work at the University of St. Francis, Dr. Alicia enjoys training adult learners on techniques to become professional social workers. She teaches courses on cultural competency, advanced research, field education, and social work practice. Dr. Alicia obtained her master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago in 2000 and earned her doctoral degree in social work from Florida State University in 2008. She has published 10 professional articles and has presented at over 20 professional social work conferences.
Caroline Smith, LCPC, NCC, CAADC
Caroline Smith is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CAADC). She graduated from Benedictine University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. With 22 plus years of experience in helping people improve their lives, she takes pride in her holistic approach to mental health.
The physical, mental and social areas are all important. Her specialties include working with adults and older adults with a variety of problems including anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationships, parenting, difficult transitions, and addictions. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), teaches coping skills and a variety of approaches to help people change and grow.
